Flying kites is an Independence Day tradition in India. Thousands of kites are seen throughout the sky leaving dots of colour right up until the sun sets. India has been an independent country since 1947 and since then every 15th August, flying kites is seen to be an event to celebrate this momentous occasion. I don’t remember ever flying a kite! But by afternoon we stepped up to our rooftop to join many others in this fun tradition. This was quite an amazing experience. However, unfortunately I have been told that this has become less common now in modern India. Once ago you would see the sky flooded with kites, whereas now we see less and less kites in the sky.
On a completely different note- have you ever had that moment where you stop and realise that- ‘I would have never imagined I would ever be doing what I’m doing right now‘? Well I had this moment this week. This weird and wonderful moment occurred on my birthday while walking into the movie theater to watch Bollywood movie, “Chennai Express”. Nothing extremely unusual; I simply would not have thought I would be where I am now, doing what I’m doing now.
Anyway, apart from that side thought I did enjoy the movie. I am not normally a Shah Rukh Khan fan, but Chennai Express I would say was a ‘fun’ movie. Although it showed a typical plot of girl meets boy story, romance, some action and of course music and dancing; it did not disappoint.
Have you seen Chennai express or a movie that is not in the language you speak?
